Old Doom Live Shots
Doomshade is a metal band from Kansas City currently working up material for the new record to follow up last years release of their first CD entitled, "Doomshade". The band formed in January of 2006 and began writing music that would showcase the deep resonance of lead singer Jay Stadler vocal style. Doomshade has done around 140 live shows since 2006, secured a distribution contract with Open Grave Records, and delivered their first record to the public through popular international retailers. Currently they are rehearsing new material in preparation for the recording studio. A new record should be ready for the spring of 2011.
Doomshade live performances are tight and the music is often compared to Pantera, Rob Zombie, and Godsmack. Most of the songs are between three and five minutes in length. The rhythms are catchy and easy to grasp for first time listeners, but intricate enough to hold your attention for the long run. The tone is heavy, heavy, heavy. Dead stops, grinding rhythms, powerful drum riffs, clear gravel lead vocals, with Ozzy-like harmonies highlight the musical interplay they bring to the stage. The guitar solos of Maxx Christopher continue to grab audiences genre over crowded with strictly rhythm guitar bands. Jameson's drum style continues to override human biorhythms and front-man Stadler’s stage presence is infectious. Doomshade gives 110% at their live performances. Their showmanship commands any stage and they entertain the eyes as well as the ear.
The inspiration for Doomshade came about during a hiatus from performing with the band Graven Image which Oliver, Haupt, and Christopher formed in 1995. Jay Stadler, a long time friend, saw an opportunity to enlist the group to work on a side project to record music for his vocals. Once composition and recording had begun the project took on a life of its own, and they decided to officially form a new band. Preparation for live performances went fast due to the twin guitar team of Haupt and Christopher, paired with drummer Oliver, who had worked together on all three of the indie records released by Graven Image between 1995 and 2003.
The band is currently working with several production companies in the Midwest to expand their audience base by performing in an ever-widening geographical area. Recording will begin this spring of 2009 on the second Doomshade record to be released in the summer. Doomshade is currently seeking a " good" label to work with, but either way they will continue to produce and perform quality heavy metal music for the foreseen future.
